HUMAN POTENTIAL FICTION CONTEST |
| |
We are happy to announce that the winning entry for the Contest was awarded to Zainab Amadahy for BLOOD IN THE RAIN.
The winner is published on INHOUSEPRESS website.
The 2010 INHOUSEPRESS Fiction Contest dealing with the subject of Human Potential attracted many entries. We are sorry to say that one of the best entries and some other submissions disqualified themselves by exceeding the number of words allowable. To include them would be unfair to those who stuck to the rules. Nevertheless, we are delighted by the response, and we thank all participants for their efforts. We hope to see your work again, when we announce our next contest. In the meantime, we wish you every success. |

| BOOK RELEASE |
| |
| In May Inhousepress
published NOW - Being and Becoming, a novel by Stan I.S. Law. To read 'inside the book' please click HERE. |
| |
| Few words about the book: |
| |
"This is a story of how a mind can be set free to roam infinite space where time does not exist, while its body lies in a coma, and what it can discover about itself, its being and its becoming. As usual, this reader was awed by the author’s cosmic range of thought, global vocabulary, the boldness of his ideas, the potpourri of philosophical sources, and his charming self-revelatory candor. The marvel is that, theoretically, such peregrinations of mind are quite plausible. I have experienced them myself. They are quite within the realm of the laws of physics.
|
| It's intriguing to contemplate Law's interpretations of scripture, ancient poetry and musings, and modern cosmology. An extraordinary puzzle audaciously put together! How he can sustain what is basically a stream of consciousness for 300 spellbinding pages reminds of Mozart's tour de forces of weaving together four or more counterpoints." |

Some time ago, Stan I.S.
Law ventured into the realm of poetry, mostly inspired by Bozena
Happach's sculptures.
In today's Newsletter we share with you a poem, inspired by bronze sculpture: "Sunset". |
| |
|
I liked staring, unblinking, into the setting sun
painting the mists of far, far-distant, endless sea.
Since I was but a little, lonesome, fearful boy
sunsets made me elusive, protected, strangely free.
I sat there looking at raging, insatiate orb of fire.
I––tiny, innocent, gazing at what might be…
Tomorrow? The day after? Perhaps even forever.
Beyond time and space, beyond the endless sea.
Now I am old and hunched, still gazing at the sunset.
No longer dreaming of future––still lonesome as can be.
I now dream of the past, of days left behind,
when I first sat here, alone, on the old, gnarled tree. |

| Bozena's beautiful experience |
| |
| Recently, on my visit to Poland I had a beautiful experience. After many years I went to see my Alma Mater, the High School of Art in Gdynia. What I saw was the incredible passion and talent of the new generation of aspiring artists. The school’s beautiful location on the waterfront of the Baltic sea always contributed to the magic of the creative endeavour. The school didn’t change much but the new building gave it space for new disciplines (digital photography, ceramics, bronze sculpture). The new school is now better equipped than in my time but the young people apparently have the same love for art that we had. |
